Speaker: Peiran Li
Title: Understanding rooftop PV panel semantic segmentation of satellite and aerial images for better using machine learning
Abstract: Technology innovations and application ofdigital technologies are essential for low carbon transition. Researches show digital use can deliver up to 20% of greenhouse gas reductions by 2050. This would be achieved via enhancing energy efficiency in carbon-intensive processes and buildings, as well as managing renewable energy using artificial intelligence powered by cloud computing. In particular, Big Tech (internet companies), through their digital platforms and power of algorithms, can have large impacts on consumers, business and society as a whole in persuing the goal of carbon neutrality.
Speaker bio: Peiran Li got his Ph.D. degree from The University of Tokyo, and currently he is a Project Researcher of Center for Spatial Information Science, The University of Tokyo. His research focuses on the urban computing, big mobile phone GPS data mining and smart energy.
